Microbiology exam tomorrow

So I'm currently listening to the lecture about biofilms and didn't realize bacteria was so clever. It's like they almost waging a battle with human kind.
Basically, biofilm is formed by the bacteria sending out the pili and sticking to a surface, then shorten the pilli and pulls itself to the surface. Then it sends out these little signal molecules where other bacter uses quorum sensing and get to gether to form a colony of bacteria and new protein and glycocalyx is formed over the whole structure.
The advantage is that antibiotic cannot penetrate all of the structure and it's like a military fort.
Kind of interesting as our professor is always saying how if we knew how the bacteria work then we can find treatments for the disease that it causes. That reminds me of the old saying of "know your enemies"
Also interesting is that we could potentially see our sushi glow in the dark if we turned off all the lights due to quorum sensing.
